I wonder if any of you saw this:

I'm only a very recent Dylan fan, but this helps to show why he's so much loved. In spite of his terrible voice.
He thinks of people as individuals, whatever their background. I hope so, anyway.

I haven't watched the link - but I will.

I think the reason he was so loved is because he's one of THE greatest song writers of our times. (I laughed recently when a young French lad in his late 20's told me I was wrong and that it was Axle Rose who write 'Knocking on heaven's door' ) ;))

Love what Joan Baez wrote about him in her song 'Diamonds and Rust'

I thought that it was excellent, Eddie Marsan clearly enjoyed himself and there were plenty of Dylan in-jokes, plus the rest of the cast were terrific. The only wrong note was the excessively polite passport control officer (as if!).

We're off to Amsterdam Easter weekend to see his Bobness croak his way through another performance - I won't be able to get Crouch End out of my mind - that should really be a Dylan song title.

Saw him once in UK, Tea in the Park in London somewhere if memory serves.

He was complete rubbish, very obviously bored and wanting to be somewhere else.

You couldn't pay me to see him again.

His performances are variable, to say the least. We've seen him several times, occasionally, as you report, obviously uninterested and carried by his band, but more often good or even excellent. Voice is definitely going though (not that it was ever a beautiful instrument).

Which reminds me of the worst concert I ever attended; van Morrison grumped his way through a 40 minute set, stormed off at the interval and failed to reappear. Subsequently there were rumours that he'd just had yet another row with his recording company (possible, but Van the Man is notoriously prickly at the best of times).
