Yep, it's strike time this week.... grrrr!
If you're flying anywhere over SW France this week keep an eye on your booking.
I had to take the decision last Friday whether to fly Bergerac-Stansted Saturday-Tuesday, and chose not to go. I missed a super day out in London yesterday with old friends from Uni (45 years on from when by chance we were in the same hall of residence). Sadly with increasingly dependent Mum to care for, and a sick mum in law in the UK I couldn't afford the luxury of not flying home on time.
hey ho.... at least they should refund me today's flight, and by careful booking my return flights & Easybus to London cost me 35€ all-up, so no great financial loss.

Very annoying nonetheless. Hope you can reschedule sometime.

I was at guide dog school yesterday, close to Bordeaux airport and under the flight path and learnt more about the reason for this week's particular strike from a chap whose son is an ATC at Bordeaux.
Apparently Bordeaux and Brest think they have a 'special grievance' : the little darlin's are upset because there are more flights in summer than in winter, so they are in effect underemployed in the winter and overworked in the summer and they can't take their holidays in July and August as everyone else does. :|

It was probably a good thing that he and I were in separate groups for the training sessions so we couldn't pursue our discussions.

There are around 144 airports in France of varying sizes and up to 10 in Brittany alone. I wonder how many of them are really viable or necessary. Perhaps they are built to create employment .... or so that France can brag about the number of airports it has.

Perhaps it's time the French stopped being such lemmings with a need to do everything at the same time. You would have thought they had learnt by now that holiday periods are busy and not the time for staff to take their holidays !
