As from 20 November, riders of motorised 2-wheelers must wear approved gloves.

Indeed, I'd never ride without gloves but I'm not sure any of mine have a CE mark on them. I doubt any gendarme would bother to check that on any sensible-looking biker wearing a decent lid and other gear.

It's the kids on piss-pots that ride without gloves, wear t-shirts, shorts and soft shoes. Personal safety just doesn't seem to occur to them and they haven't the imagination to see the damage caused by sliding 50m along the tarmac at, say, 40 kph - ask any cyclist !

ok so it's not a 2 wheeler but what a nob. His helmet isn't even fastenend.

Personally I think all these new little laws are becoming a bit silly really. Next they'll be making it compulsory for pedestrians to wear CE approved boots when it's raining.

I've always worn gloves on my bikes because I value my hands, but I was born before generation snowflake, before the time when humans lost their 6th sense - common sense.

It's the Nanny State era and perhaps people lack common sense today. Half these people wouldn't wear helmets if it wasn't compulsory - but then their brains probably aren't worth protecting :|

The other thing the lawmakers are trying to insist on is that all motards wear a fluorescent vest. Every biker I know is totally against it.

Good idea! just that I cannot get a glove on because of Dupuytren's contracture, my little finger is so bent I cannot put a glove on.
Doctor says it is not a problem! Probably because it would cost to fix.

My sympathies Provost - my little finger isn't quite as bad but if a second infiltration doesn't work, it will require surgery. It sometimes gets stuck in the bent position but it usually releases on its own or with help. It's more annoying than anything else - I hope CPAM will cover most of the cost !

Well you can't text whilst wearing gloves can you!!! x_x

But joking aside, how does a 14 yr old afford a scoot nowadays?

oh yes, mum or dad,

so why don't mum or dad insist on them wearing correct protection?

Absolutely, Mum or Dad, but not Nanny. 8-|

Agree totally with that - but all too often it seems that Mummy and Daddy don't bother (or perhaps the kiddos don't listen).

Nice one, Scooby - unless they wear those gloves with the bits on the fingers that allow you to text ....
But then they wouldn't give any real protection in the event of a fall - but then that would mean Nanny would have to specify the type of glove worn :-j

If they're not going to listen to Nanny saying don't text, they'll hardly pay any attention to her saying wear gloves, or at least approved ones.

You've got it all wrong, Nanny doesn't give a damm about the gloves, all she sees is a nice little money earner for her state, when some get 'nicked, just like the UK 'elf mob, and now nanny has just announced that rolling 'backy will go up by over a euro, a pack, to make it on a par with tailor made fags X( X(

As one who now knows better, but who was at one time young and foolhardy, I have to admit to having ridden a motorbike in an open-necked shirt, shorts and flip-flops. What is more I am here to tell the tale.

Foolish and free, as long as others aren't harmed, surely everybody's right.
