Well! I turned 6 months old last week whilst I was in skool for a few days and what did I get as a pressie? Nothing. And my 3 meals a day reduced to 2. OK so there's a bit more in the bowl each time but it's not the same.
Anyway, I had a fun week staying in the doggie hotel there, lots of friends to play with and plenty of walks in Bordeaux. They couldn't find anything to scare me
I got 20/20 from the kennel staff for my impeccable manners, and 20/20 from the tutors. I can behave when I want to, it's just I don't always feel like it.
Apparently my next lessons to concentrate on are :
Pas Bouger
à ton tapis/ à ta place
Cut the sniffing of 'disgustings' when on the lead :(

Well done on being so clever.
Not sniffing "disgustings" will be the hardest of the next tasks - good luck with that.

uh oh, I'm in BIG trouble today.....yesterday I went back to digging in the garden and that sort of started things off. Liz decided I couldn't be trusted to be left so took me and AuntyB with her to our friend Gillian's house where the big green trampoline with splashy water has been replaced by a lot of bright blue water. I rushed out of the car to investigate. OOPS. My paws couldn't feel the ground so I learnt to swim pdq but I couldn't climb out. Liz had to drag me round to the steps. It was quite fun, but apparently I'm NOT supposed to go in, it's for humans only. And I was very wet.
And it was all going so well, I did a brilliant training session on Thursday and since then things have gone downhill.

After doing an adolescent sulk this morning for 15 minutes I decided to behave for the rest of the boring walk in town with uniform etc etc. OK so what? I know everything. Yeah, I'm 6 months old, like?
So.... I refused the whistle this afternoon. Like what? I'm a teenager, OK???
Apparently not.... AuntieB has warned me that uh oh I should come back when whistled or otherwise I will get serious lead work where I should be roaming free.
AuntieB also sez earcleaning happens so just get on with it, like.

Liz, I have only just read this diary of Maona and it bought back so many memories of our Celé, chocolate lab. Mrs JJ didn't have a work skirt with a complete hem for ages. All long skirts and Celé would try to stop her going out by swinging on the hem all the way down the garden path!

No runner beans on the bottom 2 feet or so of the plants and discovering that she couldn't do a JC and walk on the river Wye to get a stick. Just as well she was on an extending lead! Sitting under the pear tree waiting for them to drop and so much more.

It's a lovely read and l look forward to the further entries. We will not have another pup though. Loosing Celé still hurts after 4 years on the 6th June!

Just a thought? Have you tried her with an empty 2 ltr plastic fizzy drink bottle? I put one in the freezer, with the top off, for about an hour. Put the top on securely before you take it out and when it warms up the air expands and makes the bottle almost rock hard and VERY bouncy! She wont be able to get her teeth into it and will probably have hours of fun too. Plus, it hilarious to watch  I used to use the 3 ltr beer bottles, but I don't know if you can get them here?

I was bought up with labs and I adore them :O3 :O3

aw, and I have some of our first dog's tiny teeth in a Colman's mustard tin!

Re the plastic bottles : I hadn't known about freezing them, I'll try that. They (old and young) usually eye up the bottles as we finish them and wait waggily while we peel the labels off before crashing about with them.

Gorgeous dog!
Does she like to go swimming, Liz? My parents had a labrador like that when they lived by the sea. I often took her to the beach and she was in there in a flash.
But I suppose you don't want her to have too many distractions.

It's a shame that a pup has to grow up so quickly, but I imagine that in many ways a guide dog pup has a far more interesting life than the average pup. All those new experiences, even if diving into water is a no-no !

I am clever! I'm now lying in the water from our upturned water bowl in the hallway so it's luvly & cool, and one of my human servants has just refilled the bowl in case we get thirsty. It's too hot to contemplate even our shadiest afternoon walk. A dip in the river would be nice, but then we'd have to get in the car and that's a lot of effort.

Wow! Liz went out this morning (so I had a dig, just a small one, and honestly that droopy tomato plant is NOT my fault, I dug up the peppermint). Liz came home at lunchtime with a new interactive toy!
He's called Jedi, he's a lab like me, 3 years old and what's weird is he KNOWS THE HOUSE. And Liz. And Fixit. We've just had a big game and are now panting in the heat. I'll get to the bottom of this.....
