If you're anywhere near the Dordogne, just north of Bergerac on the Perigueux road (N21) get yourself to The Great Phoenix Book Fair on 18th October, armed with some dosh and a couple of carrier bags.
Most books are 1€, so it's a great way to sample authors you don't know and to fill in gaps on your reading list.
Take any books which you no longer read, they will take them off you at the entrance to sell to someone else.

The doors will open at 09:00 for 30 mins exclusively for those with limited mobility, and then at 09:30 for everybody else.

Browse over 18,000 well-sorted and recent books, CDs and DVDs.

Enjoy home-made savouries, tasty cakes, scones and other assorted goodies, along with hot and cold drinks, again from only 1 euro each.

It's a good day out, and all money raised goes to helping animals in dire need.

Salle Municipale, 24140 Campsegret – on the N21 between Bergerac and Perigueux.

It's the last time at Campsegret too I hear, the sale has outgrown the place and moves further south to Bergerac next Spring. So I have heard.

Shame for us, due to my wife's inability to get shifting in the mornings we never arrive before midday, and it is only a hour and a quarter away from us.

We will be there though and after that? Maybe on my own with the dogs perhaps. 8-|
