Has anyone here read "Stoner" by John Williams? I've received an email from Amazon recommending this book to me (!) and the reviews are intriguing enough to make me want to read it.. Never heard of the author or the book. Is it simply marketing hype or is the praise justified?

Haven't read it, but the reviews make me want to order it.

Not everyone's cup of tea but one of my favourites. Rightly regarded as a 'classic'.
