Don't see any other general thread that discusses this, and I'm a real filmy, so love nothing better than getting totally absorbed into a good film.

Finally got round to seeing Skyfall last night. Thought it was ok, but perhaps Bond movies used to have more oomph to them? Or is it just 'cos I'm all grown up now? (Sort of!)

Another film I saw recently, and thought was brilliant, was Robin of the Hood starring Russell Crowe. Action packed, huge production, loved every minute of it.

One of the latest big films being talked about is the musical Les Miserables - haven't seen it yet, and not sure if I can cope with the singing actors side of it....but it gets rave reviews.

So, wondered if any other film buffs out there would like to recommend new, and fairly recent, films. ;;)

I'm not sure I'm ready to see another version of Robin Hood, having enjoyed the Kevin Costner one so much - and I still watch it from time to time.

I'd really like to see the new Spielberg "Lincoln" so would be interested to hear any thoughts on this !

FWIW I think the description of Les Mis as a musical is technically true, but really its much closer to a contemporary opera. It is much more than a musical.

Watched "The Bourne Legacy" over Christmas, very good, but I miss Matt. Jeremy doesnt float my boat in the same way. I thought Skyfall was a brilliant film. He has grown on me but the best of the best is "The Bourne Ultimatum". I never get tired of watching it. :) We watched "Plunkett and Macleane" and "Leon" too as sonny's other half hadn't seen them. Two of my favourites. :)
