Found by chance, well, one sort of wanders around the internet. Said to be Diana Dors best performance. Well, it was quite a film, the last few minutes not being to watch. I would say (not knowing much about Diana Dors) that this was pretty top. Great cast, Yvonne Mitchell, HMPs answer to Mr Danvers. Thought everyone should have an aunt like Marjorie Rhodes.

Am of to find more British films, 1950 to about 1980 later.

Here's a link, Yield To The Night.

Not Ruth Ellis. The book was written in 1954 before the Ruth Ellis trial. The film came out a year after, coincidence or . . .

A few words here.

Would love to watch this when all the parts are there. Is set where my Dad grew up. Didn't like leave, said he felt safer on his boat.

:)) :)) Looked back on by all lorry drivers of a certain age with fondness. Oh how we laughed (perhaps it was a comedy 8-| ) at all those speeded up sequences round the lanes and down the bank to the quarry.

Also, of course, as well as all the later big names, Bill Hartnell, Patrick McGoohan etc. we remember those tin coffins from London, the Kew Dodges.

Now I'm scrolling back to see if DD still works for me, she certainly did when she looked like that. Later, when she was much larger (all over, does anyone remember Queenie's Castle?) she turned into a quite good dramatic and comedy actress. She married a younger man and died too early of cancer, followed shortly by her grief stricken husband, Allan Lake.
