Last night's viewing - a film from 2008 "In Bruges", starring Colin Farrell :ymdaydream: Brendan Gleeson and Ralph Fiennes....

A melange of Father Ted meets Pulp Fiction I'd say - brilliant film, but lots of swearing (Irish swearing seems so much more acceptable somehow  ) and quite a lot of shooting/violence. If you can cope with that, and you'd like to see how pretty Bruges is, you're in for a treat! :D

Personally I found The Imitation Game somewhat disappointing.

Best films watched recently:

The Lincoln Lawyer (again coz it's that good)
Man on Fire (again coz it's that good)

Paddington - don't miss it! It's doing the rounds in English, and it's good and very funny.
Don't ignore it thinking it's just for kids - over 90% of the audience when we went comprised adults without a child in tow

Enjoyed Wild (in English) last week with some girlfriends, suspect OH and other males would have been bored by it

Discount : French film about employees in a discount supermarket making money by a bit of fiddling and selling off of date-expired stock, but doing it so that the deprived in the local area can get cheap food.
Might sound dull, but it was actually very good & funny at the same time.
I reckon it would be easy to follow if your French isn't that good, so you'd get a language lesson in the deal if you go to see it.

Birdman was due to be shown at our local cinema but was changed at the last moment for American Sniper. Looked at reviews and it sounds as nasty a film as you could get with violence and cruelty being glorified. Read the typical reviews of American Rednecks who having watched it come out with , "I wanna kill some Ragheads", Kill all Sand Niggers" "America is great" "I wanna join the Seals and kill as many Ragheads as possible". The sensible Reviewers were not as enthusuastic and we gave it a wide body swerve. Disappointed as I normally like Eastwood's films.
