With all the grumpy moans about the price of Neymar and football ain't wot it used to be, is it worth my asking if you would like a Premiership Prediction league this year?
Answers on a postcard please, or more quickly by posting a reply yes/no/whatever here!
If enuff folk are interested I'll happily run it.

Oh dear, another one for the grumpy old gits' league here, I gave up on footie when the jaded hero, Cloughie, turned up pissed on a visit to my wife's care home and began kissing all the fellows. :o

Not quite true, it came later, but a sad but true story in the re-telling. :(

Why not - I know nothing about footie (the only pro match I have ever watched was an England 1-0 win over Portugal in 60s when Peter Bonetti was in goal - although I may double that if FC Basel meet Chelsea in the European Cup and son #1 comes over).

My limited memories go back that far too J, my friend's Dad took us to watch Tommy Lawton playing for Notts County against Bury, and we were both handed down over the heads to sit on the touchline where we could see properly. County won. :)

And, a Scotsman, a Welshman and me (no, not a racist joke), all shipmates at a loose end in Athens went to watch Wales play Greece. The Greeks fouled the Welsh, their seaborn rep (my mate, 3 sheets to the wind (did you see what I did there, a maritime metaphor 8-| )) invaded the pitch and all 3 of us were ejected onto the street. We re-entered via the away players' entrance and chatted to Gary Sprake, Terry Yorath and a reporter called Wheeler in the changing room at half time, and then trotted along with them back to the pitch, where we sat on the touchline, very well behaved while thousands of Greeks behind the fencing screamed abuse at us. (One small thing eludes my memory, how was Taffy able to invade the pitch in an era of crowd fencing? We must have been even craftier than we thought we were :-? )

Fortunately, Greece won, and we were all friends together walking back along their version of Wembley Way.

Sorry for the hijack, Liz, despite my earlier comment, I do hope your thread goes ahead and I will watch it, if possible, without remarks. ;) :)
