Post subject: Selling a house by auction in France.
PostPosted: Sun Feb 12, 2012 10:43 am
For reasons I will not bore you with, we are considering selling our house by auction. However, after "doing a google", this method of property selling does not seem to be very prevalent in France and we are wondering if anyone here with knowledge and/or experience could offer advice.

1. Is property auction less common in France?
2. How is it done - through a notaire?
3. How is it advertised?
4. Is the auction price achieved anywhere near the "market" value?
5. What other implications?

Many thanks in advance.

Majic, try this link, http://www.google.fr/search?client=opera&rls=fr&q=vent+par+bougie&sourceid=opera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&channel=suggest, I have seen a variation of the three candles auction, I dont know if the Notaire knew the rules or not, or if the auction was fixed, but the Notaire used nine candles in total

Hope I'm not teaching granny to suck eggs but there's also this method which you may want to consider - if you haven't already.
Best of luck with the sale Majic..

AFAIK, it's common only for foreclosures, corporate liquidations etc. At those sales (organised by an avocat) it's often a subsidiary of the creditor bank which buys

Pipsqueaks pointer is probably your best bet, or a UK small ad.
